Kyle Gentile is a saxophonist from northern New Jersey whose playing draws deeply from tenor giants such as Dexter Gordon and John Coltrane, while also reflecting the influence of modern voices like Joshua Redman and Seamus Blake. After beginning his study of jazz later than many of his peers, Gentile quickly developed a strong command of the instrument, demonstrating notable technique and a creative approach to improvisation. Based in the New York metropolitan area, he performs in both small-group and large-ensemble settings with a wide range of musicians. Gentile’s playing seeks to honor the classic figures of the jazz tradition while embracing modern influences, contributing to the ongoing evolution of the music.
